Dr. Craig Barrett Meets and Greets Intel ISEFers
May 12th, 2009 by Kiesha CochraneLast night I witnessed something amazing here at the International Science and Engineering Fair as Intel Chairman Craig Barrett walked the showroom floor for what will be his last ISEF. After 35 years at Intel and 13 years of being involved with Intel ISEF, Dr. Barrett will be retiring.
Education has been a top priority for Barrett since becoming Chairman in 2004. His impact on Intel’s involvement in education programs was obvious as he walked the floor last night and was treated like a rock-star! Students and journalists alike pushed through the crowds that followed Dr. Barrett around the show floor to take photos and ask for autographs.
For the past few years, Dr. Barrett has traveled the globe in an effort to use technology to bridge the education gap. He has even gone as far as to He has testify before Congress about the need to strengthen math, science and technology education here in the U.S. It’s obvious Dr. Barrett has left a lasting impression on the education community! Intel will gladly continue his legacy of using technology to make education tangible for all.
