Thoughts from an Intel ISEF participant

May 18th, 2009 by InspiredbyEducation

Alicia Hamar, from Arlington, VA

I’m so excited I was given the opportunity to participate in this years Intel ISEF in Nevada. Science and math have always been important in my life ever since I was very young. I’ve always had an interest in medicine, and this year was the first time I was able to truly research my interests. This year, my project was about using a computer program to model a blood flow system interacting with an aneurysm. When you combine math and science you get advancements in technology that can help society and limitless possibilities to explore any area you wish.

  • Question of the Week

Students are using personal technology tools more readily to study subject matter, collaborate with classmates, and complete assignments than they were several years ago, but they are generally asked to “power down” at school and abandon the electronic resources they rely on for learning outside of class.
