April 1st, 2011 by InspiredbyEducationCheck this out! The Wall Street Journal’s Christopher Shea posted an article about Michelle Hackman, this year’s second place winner in the Intel Science Talent Search, a program of Society for Science & the Public. Shea, who learned of Michelle’s research by stumbling upon a video interview on YouTube, describes Michelle’s award-winning project, “Communication Underload: Validating the Existence of Disconnect Anxiety,” in which she analyzed the affects and symptoms of separating teenagers from their cell phones. Not only did she discover that society tends to become bored and under stimulated when we are without our phones, but the research also suggests that we are addicted to them!
