Today we’d like to congratulate Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2010 second-place prize winner, Andrea Pugh, as she’s been recognized on The Root’s “Young Futurists List of 25 Innovators.” Andrea’s project at the Intel science fair, a program of Society for Science & the Public, looked at ways to infuse nutrients into soil as a better method of preparing it for growing crops. Andrea says that through her research she hopes, “to change the world and move my community to look at a more sustainable environment.”

Not only is Andrea a science whiz, but she’s also actively involved in her school and community. She has a concentration in dance at The Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy, is vice president of the Saginaw NAACP Youth Council and was tapped as Miss Saginaw County Outstanding Teen for 2010-2011.
