A styrofoam-decomposing Bacterium from Mealworms

Can you believe a worm can eat Styrofoam? Do you know how serious the Styrofoam pollution is? A kind of bacteria which is responsible for decomposing Styrofoam was found in this project. Please help the red bacteria decompose Styrofoam.

Intel ISEF People's Choice Awards

Congratulations to Akash Krishnan and Matthew Fernandez for winning the People's Choice Awards! More than 1,600 students from nearly 60 countries, regions and territories gathered in San Jose to showcase their groundbreaking research and compete for top prizes at Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2010. We held our own contest on Inspire so YOU can vote for your favorite science project.

The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), the world’s largest international pre-college science competition, annually provides a forum for more than 1,600 high school students from over 60 countries to showcase their independent research.

Society for Science & the Public partners with Intel—along with dozens of other corporate, academic, government and science-focused sponsors—who provide support and awards for the Intel ISEF each year.
