Join the movement to put smart people on Wheaties boxes!
September 11th, 2009 by InspiredbyEducationIf you’ve seen the new Intel commercials, you know we love smart people – we call them our Rock Stars. And we honor the best and brightest young innovators each year at the Intel Science Talent Search and the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. So I’m thrilled to see someone else (namely Scott Kirsner who writes the Innovation Economy blog for the Boston Globe) questioning why we don’t honor smart people in the same way we do athletes. He’s starting a viral campaign to support the idea of getting brainy role models such as inventors, scientists and scholars on the front of Wheaties boxes. Maybe this can help inspire kids to pursue careers in math and science. If you agree, here are ways you can join the movement:
- Post a comment on Scott’s blog in support of the idea (or against it).
- Share your support of this idea on Twitter, along with a link to this blog post; and use the tag #wheaties in your tweet.
- Spread the idea any other way you can think of.
- Send General Mills an e-mail, perhaps with a link to this blog post (dub this a “Product Issue.”)
