Dept. of Education launches video contest to promote education

September 30th, 2009 by Gail Dundas, Intel Global Communications Group

A few weeks ago, Education Secretary Arne Duncan announced a video contest, called “I Am What I Learn” challenging students to think about how education can positively impact their lives. Students age 13 and older are eligible to enter the contest by submitting videos to the Department of Education website.

We launched the Inspire website with the goal of inspiring people to share stories about their educational experiences. So you can imagine how happy I am to learn that the Administration is also encouraging young people to share personal stories that help promote education.

I once said that personal stories are central to the human condition. They are how we pass along wisdom and knowledge, and in the case of the Inspire community and the “I Am What I Learn” contest, powerful reminders of the important role people play in enhancing and encouraging education.

And if you haven’t had a chance to view our Inspire videos, click on the Share page to hear what inspires others. We’d love to hear from you as well… so … What Inspires You?
